How quotes work

A quote offers your client a price before the work. You send it, your client accepts or rejects it online, and you turn an accepted quote into an invoice.

What a quote is

A quote lists what you offer a client and at what price. It is not an invoice: your client owes nothing until you invoice them.

Open Quotes in the menu of Accounting.

From a quote to an invoice

  1. You create the quote. See Create a quote.
  2. You send it by e-mail. Your client gets a link to the quote. See Send a quote by e-mail.
  3. Your client opens the link and accepts or rejects the quote. See How your client accepts or rejects a quote.
  4. You turn the accepted quote into an invoice. See Turn a quote into an invoice.

The three statuses

  • Pending: a new quote. Your client hasn’t answered yet.
  • Accepted: your client accepted it, or you marked it as accepted.
  • Rejected: your client rejected it, or you marked it as rejected.

You can change the status yourself at any time. See Change the status of a quote.

What you see in the list

Each line shows:

  • Project: the name of the quote. Click it to open the quote.
  • Number: the quote number.
  • Client: the client’s logo or initials and name.
  • Amount: the total, taxes included.
  • Status.
  • Date: the date of the quote.

You can also show the Expires on column with the column button. The newest quotes come first.

Totals and the conversion report

At the top, three totals add up your Accepted, Pending and Rejected quotes of last year and this year, in your workspace’s currency.

Click the chart button next to them to show the Quote conversion report: one bar per month, by status. Choose the year under Viewing data for year. Skileo remembers whether you keep the report open.

Find a quote

  • Click Search and type part of the name, the number or the recipient’s name.
  • Click Show filters to show only one Status or one Client. The status filter also narrows the report.
  • Click a column title to sort the list by it.

To download the listed quotes as a file, click Export. The file follows your filters.

Common questions

Does a quote change my finances?

No. Quotes are not counted in your income. Only the invoice you make from a quote is.

Can I see which quotes I have already invoiced?

Not in the list for now. A quote keeps its status when you turn it into an invoice.

Are quotes in every software?

No. They are part of Accounting only.
