Import your file

  1. Open CV database in the menu.
  2. Click Add new at the top right, then Import. The page Import CVs opens.
  3. Drop your file on the page, or click Choose a file. Skileo reads Excel (.xlsx, .xls), ODS and CSV files up to 10 MB.
  4. Check the columns and the rows. See below.
  5. Click the button at the bottom, for example Import 37 people.

Nothing is saved until you click this button. The page then shows how many people were added, and See them in the CV database opens the list with only these people.

The import has three steps, shown at the top of the page: Add, Review and Done.

Prepare the file

Put the column names on the first row, then one person per row. Each person needs a first name, a last name, an e-mail address and a job title. You can also give their gender, phone, date of birth, address, city, postal code, country and skills. Separate several skills with commas.

To start from the right columns, click Download the template on the first step. It downloads an Excel file with the column names.

If your workbook has several sheets, Skileo opens the one that fits best. You can choose another sheet under Sheet.

Check the columns

Skileo matches the columns of your file with its fields from their names, in any of its languages. When every required field is found, the columns fold into one line. Click Change to match a column with another field, or to leave it out.

Check the rows

Each row shows Ready or Check. A row to check has the problem written in red in the cell.

  • Click a cell to fix it. Skileo checks the row again.
  • Click the cross at the end of a row to Leave this row out. Click Put back to bring it back.

Rows that are still wrong when you import are left out. On the last step, you can download them with the reason for each.

People already in your CV database

A row whose e-mail address is already in your CV database shows Already in your database. Choose what to do with these rows:

  • Skip them: they are not imported. This is the default.
  • Fill their empty fields: Skileo fills in what is still empty for that person, such as the phone or the city. It never changes what is already there.

You can also choose for one row at a time.

Label everyone or add them to a job offer

Before you import:

  • Labels for everyone: type the labels to give every person in the file. Press Enter after each one.
  • + Add them to a job offer: choose a job offer. Each gets an application at the Applied stage. Nobody is e-mailed.

Undo an import

On the last step, click Undo. You can also undo it later: open the import page again. Your Recent imports are listed there, each with See them and Undo.

Undo removes the people the import added, as long as nobody has worked on them since. A person who has signed in, applied to a job, or has a task, a document, a comment, a note, an interview or a rating is kept. What the import filled in for people already in your database stays.

You can undo an import for 30 days.

Common questions

Does Skileo e-mail the people I import?

No. Nobody is e-mailed, not even when you add them to a job offer.

Can I import PDF or Word CVs?

Not yet. The import reads spreadsheets only. To add one person with their CV file, see Add a person to your CV database.

Why was a row left out?

Something in it is missing or wrong, for example the e-mail address. Download the rows not imported on the last step: the Reason column says why. Fix them in your file and import them again.

Why can't I see Import or the job offer option?

To import, you need permission to make changes in the CV database. To add people to a job offer, you also need permission to make changes in applications and to see job offers. Ask the Business owner of your workspace. See Who can see and change CVs.
