Reject one candidate
- Open the application and click Move to, then choose the Disqualified stage.
- To tell the candidate, turn on Send notification email? and choose a Message Template. See E-mail a candidate when you move their application.
- Click Change Status.
Reject several candidates at once
- In Applications, tick the box in front of each application.
- Click Move to at the top of the list.
- Choose the Disqualified stage, turn on the e-mail if you want, and click Change Status.
Each candidate gets their own e-mail, with their own name.
What changes
- The application moves to Disqualified. On the board, this column is at the end and folded, so it doesn’t get in the way.
- The candidate sees the application under Disqualified in their own list of applications, even without an e-mail. See What candidates see of their applications.
- The person stays in your CV database. You can offer them another job later.
Common questions
Can I change my mind?
Yes. Move the application to another stage at any time.
Should I delete the application instead?
Usually not. A rejected application keeps the history: the interviews, ratings and comments. Delete an application only when it should never have existed. See Delete an application.
What should the e-mail say?
Keep it short and kind, and thank the candidate for their time. Write it once as a message template for the Disqualified stage type, in Settings, Message templates, and use it every time.
