# Send messages, files and photos

Type in the box at the bottom of the conversation and press Enter. To send files, click the paper clip, paste them or drop them on the conversation: up to 10 files of 25 MB each.

## Send a message

1. Open the conversation in “Messages”.
2. Type your message in the box at the bottom.
3. Press Enter, or click “Send”.

For a new line, press Shift+Enter.

## Send files and photos

Add files in one of three ways:

- Click “Attach files”: the paper clip next to the box.
- Paste them into the box.
- Drop them on the conversation.

The files show above the box. Click the cross (**×**) on a file to take it out. Add a message if you want, then send.

A message can hold up to 10 files, of 25 MB each at most.

Photos show in the conversation. Click one to see it large. Videos play in the conversation. Click any other file to download it.

## Mention someone

Type **@** and the first letters of a name, then choose the person. Their name is highlighted in the message.

You can mention everyone who is in the conversation. A click on a mentioned name opens your chat with that person.

## Emoji and text styles

Click “Emoji” next to the box to add an emoji. A message with only one to three emoji shows them large.

You can style your text:

- `*text*` for _italic_, `**text**` for **bold**.
- A line that starts with `-` or `1.` makes a list.
- A web address becomes a link.

## Messages you have not sent yet

What you type stays in the box when you open another conversation. It is still there when you come back, in the same browser.


## Common questions

### Skileo asks if I want to send a password. Why?

The message looks like a password or a key. Messages are kept and can be forwarded, so Skileo asks first. Click “Send anyway” to send it all the same.

### A file is refused. Why?

It is larger than 25 MB, or the message already has 10 files.

### Does the person get an e-mail?

No. The message appears in their “Messages”. See [Unread messages and read marks](https://www.skileo.com/help/en/unread-and-seen-messages).

### Does a mention send a notification?

No. A mention only highlights the name in the message. The mentioned person sees their name in yellow.
