# Record a payment on a purchase invoice

In Purchase invoices, click ⋮ on the line and choose Record payment. Enter the amount, the date and the method, then click Record payment again. The status changes by itself.

## Record a payment

1. Open “Finances” › “Purchase invoices” in the menu.
2. Click the actions button (**⋮**) at the end of the line and choose “Record payment”.
3. Check the “Payment amount”: Skileo fills in what is still due. Change it for a part payment.
4. Check the “Payment date”, choose the “Payment method” and, if you want, add a “Payment note”.
5. Click “Record payment”. On the first payment, Skileo asks you to confirm: click “Record!”

You can also click “Record payment” on the page of the purchase invoice, or “Record payment” in the finances overview.

The “Payment” section of the form only says how the purchase invoice is meant to be paid. It doesn't record a payment.

## Mark several purchase invoices as paid

1. Tick the purchase invoices in the list.
2. Choose “Mark as paid” at the top and confirm.

Each one gets a payment of what is still due, by bank, dated today. Those with nothing due are left as they are. If one of them is a draft or void, Skileo marks none of them.

To undo it, delete the payments one by one on the page of each purchase invoice.

## What the statuses mean

- “Draft”: not saved yet. It is not counted in your finances.
- “Not paid”: nothing is paid.
- “Overdue”: nothing is paid and the due date has passed.
- “Partially paid”: part of the amount is paid.
- “Paid”: the whole amount is paid.
- “Overpaid”: more than the amount was paid.
- “Void”: cancelled. It is not counted in your finances.

The status changes by itself when you record, change or delete a payment.

## See, change or delete a payment

Open the page of the purchase invoice: click the supplier's name on its line. The “Payments” panel lists each payment with its date, amount and method, and the “Current balance”.

Click the actions button (**⋮**) of a payment to “Edit” or “Delete” it. A deleted payment can't be restored.

## Void a purchase invoice

Void a purchase invoice you recorded by mistake, or one the supplier cancelled. It stays in the list, greyed out, and is no longer counted.

1. Click the actions button (**⋮**) at the end of the line.
2. Choose “Mark as void”.

Only a purchase invoice with nothing paid can be voided. To make it count again, choose “Undo void”.

## Common questions

### Can I link a payment to my bank account?

Yes. Match the purchase invoice to a line of your bank account with “Match to transaction”. This needs the “Bank” permission set to “Write”.

### Why can't I void a purchase invoice?

It has a payment. Delete its payments first, then void it.

### Can I delete a paid purchase invoice?

Not from its line. Delete its payments first. See [Copy or delete a purchase invoice](https://www.skileo.com/help/en/copy-or-delete-a-purchase-invoice).
