# Hide a password in a note

Select the password and click Hide text in the toolbar. It then shows as •••••• everywhere, and Skileo records each time someone reveals or copies it.

## Hide text

1. Open the note and type or paste the password.
2. Select it.
3. Click “Hide text” at the end of the toolbar.

The text now shows as ••••••. Skileo stores it encrypted.

You can hide up to 2,000 characters at a time, within one paragraph. In a new note, type a title first.

## When you paste a password

When you paste text that looks like a password, Skileo asks “This looks like a password”:

- “Hide it”: the text is hidden.
- “Keep visible”: the text stays as you pasted it.

The note is not saved until you choose. If you close the note first, Skileo asks again.

## Read or copy hidden text

Next to the ••••••, two small buttons:

- “Reveal” (the eye) shows the text for 30 seconds, then hides it again.
- “Copy” puts the text on the clipboard without showing it.

Skileo records who revealed or copied the text, and when.

## Where it stays hidden

Hidden text shows as •••••• on the cards, in the list, in the search and in exports. The search does not find it. At the bottom of the note, “Details” shows how many values are hidden.

## Common questions

### Who can reveal hidden text?

Everyone who can see the note. To keep a password private, choose who can see the note. See [Choose who can see a note](https://www.skileo.com/help/en/who-can-see-a-note).

### Can I make hidden text permanently visible?

No. “Reveal” shows it for 30 seconds only. To change it, delete the hidden text, type the new value and hide it again.

### Can Undo show the password again?

No. “Undo” never brings hidden text back as plain text.
