# E-mail a candidate when you move their application

When you move an application to a stage with message templates, turn on the e-mail in the panel, choose a template and Skileo sends it to the candidate.

## Skileo doesn't write for you

Moving an application never sends an e-mail on its own. The candidate gets one only when you choose to send it, in the “Change Status” panel.

## Send the e-mail

1. Move the application to the new stage. See [Move an application to another stage](https://www.skileo.com/help/en/move-an-application-to-another-stage).
2. In the “Change Status” panel, turn on “Send notification email?”
3. Choose the “Message Template”. The “Subject” and the “Email Message” fill in.
4. Change the text if you want.
5. Click “Change Status”.

The application moves and the e-mail goes to the candidate's e-mail address.

When you move several applications at once, each candidate gets their own e-mail, with their own name.

## Personal details in the message

Words in square brackets are replaced by the real details in each e-mail. The panel lists the ones you can use, such as:

- `[candidate_first_name]`, `[candidate_full_name]`: the candidate's name.
- `[position_title]` and `[position_url]`: the title of the job offer and the link to its public page.
- `[company_name]`: your company's name.
- `[company_user_full_name]`: your name.
- `[interview_details]`: the date, duration and place of the interview.

## E-mail about an interview

When the stage is an interview stage, the panel also shows “Select interview”: choose the interview this e-mail is about. If there is none yet, click “Schedule an interview.” See [Schedule an interview](https://www.skileo.com/help/en/schedule-an-interview).

The candidate gets your message with a calendar invitation attached. The interviewers get a copy.

## Create or change the templates

Templates are set up in “Settings”, “Message templates”. Each template is made for a type of stage, such as Interview or Disqualified. The switch only shows for a stage that has at least one template.


## Common questions

### Why don't I see the e-mail switch?

The stage has no message template. Create one in “Message templates”, or write to the candidate with “Send message” in the application's actions button (**⋮**).

### I moved several people to the interview stage and nobody got an e-mail. Why?

An interview e-mail needs the interview it is about, and you can choose one for a single application only. Move the applications one by one to send the interview e-mails.
