# Add documents

Open Documents in the menu and click Add new. Drop one or more files, or add a link. Each file becomes its own document, titled from the file name.

## Add a document

1. Open “Documents” in the menu.
2. Click “Add new” at the top right of the list.
3. Drop a file on the page, or click “Browse files”.
4. Check the “Title”. Skileo takes it from the file name.
5. Choose the “Document type”.
6. Click “Save”.

The document is now in “Documents”. If you associate an employee or a candidate with it, it is also on their profile.

## Add several files at once

Drop or pick several files in step 3. Each file becomes its own document, with its own title. Check each title in the list of files.

The type, the tags and everything else you choose apply to all the documents. The save button shows how many documents will be added.

If a file can't be saved, it stays on the page with the reason. The others are saved. Fix the problem and save again.

## Add a link instead of a file

1. Click “Add a link instead”.
2. Paste the address in “Link”.
3. Give the document a “Title”. A link has no file name to take it from.

The document opens the address in a new tab.

## Choose or create a document type

Every document needs a type, such as a contract or an ID card. Skileo suggests the type you used last.

If the type is not in the list, type its name in “Document type” and press Enter. Skileo adds it to your workspace's types and picks it. You can also manage the types in “Document types”, in the settings.

## The other options

- “Tags”: words to group and find documents. A new word becomes a tag of your workspace.
- “Expires on”: for a document that ends, such as an ID card or a permit. See [Set an expiry date on a document](https://www.skileo.com/help/en/document-expiry-dates).
- “Filed under”: the employees or candidates the document is about.
- “Which software modules show it?”: the softwares where the document is listed. By default, the software you are in. This choice appears only if your workspace has more than one software.
- “Access”: whether the people you chose can open the document. See [Share a document with an employee or a candidate](https://www.skileo.com/help/en/share-a-document).
- “More options”: “Private to you” and a “Description”.

## Who can add documents

The “Business owner”, and every “Member” with the “Write” permission on “Documents”.
